Growing up in an age before widespread access to the internet would’ve been a lot harder if it weren’t for Marilyn. She was our trusted source of information and our go-to for any of life’s wonders. Have a question about anything, just go ask gramma. You could always trust the answer was going to be accurate. With access to a walking encyclopedia, life just seemed easier. Even with today’s technological advances, getting quality information isn’t any easier. A simple search yields thousands if not millions of results; where do you even start? It’s no wonder many of us today are overwhelmed by the amount of available information at our fingertips. 

What was more important than Marilyn’s wealth of knowledge was how she presented it. Without speaking down to us, she was able to digest complicated thoughts, break them down into easy-to-understand components, and very patiently she would educate us. Marilyn’s professional life was defined by her career as a nurse. Her incredible memory and caring nature put her patients’ minds at ease as a medical provider. Not only were you confident in her abilities, but you were also comforted by her demeanor. As a leader of our family, she gave us direction. Always willing to hear us out, she would take in all the facts and provide a pragmatic solution to our problems that were realistic and unique to our situation. 

Everyone could appreciate Marilyn for all of that. It’s what many didn’t get to see that impressed the rest of us most of all. She bought a book on painting animals on rocks to find something creative to keep her grandkids occupied. Sitting on a shelf, waiting for the right rainy day to break it out, the book sat for months. One sunny day, with all her books read and nothing better to do, she tried it. The results were amazing! Her creations were always the biggest draw at the local craft shows, earning her the nickname of the rock lady by all the kids. Her collection included the likes of all sorts of animals, from lions, dogs, and eagles to various flowers and everything in between. You could find Marilyn’s creations throughout town. It became fun to locate gramma’s rocks. We’d flip them over whenever spotted to see that familiar signature, LYN. This new chapter in her life taught me the most about success: follow your passion but always remain committed to excellence, regardless of what you’re doing. Even though she had created a name for herself as our trusted source of quality information, her dedication to her craft solidified the Lyn standard. 

With over a decade of experience delivering high-stakes customer service as a firefighter combined with my sales background and a personal journey to find relief from chronic pain, it was cannabis that brought it all together. Quickly rising the ranks, I learned from some of the best in the industry. Paired with my previous experience and tasked with creating a training program that helped to develop an award-winning team with some of the highest sales in the country. It’s now my goal to partner with cannabis companies to achieve higher sales and increase operational efficiency while providing an enhanced guest experience. Lyn Direction was born in honor of Marilyn and her commitment to helping others through the direction she provided.
